Based in Jackson, WY, the Mountains of Color Film Festival (MOCFF) creates spaces to showcase and celebrate BIPOC+ (Black, Indigenous, People of Color, + other intersecting minority groups) in outdoors, adventure, and conservation filmmaking to inspire our community and beyond to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive outdoor culture for all. We seek to increase representation in outdoors media and build community for BIPOC+ filmmakers, outdoors enthusiasts, conservationists, and our allies. MOCFF is the first film festival of its kind, as no other outdoor and adventure film festival focuses primarily on BIPOC+ stories. It is a unique and empowering opportunity to learn about different perspectives, including highlighting people, nonprofits, initiatives, and companies that increase conservation and diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoors.
We invite companies, foundations, nonprofits, and individuals with a commitment and interest in DEI to join us in this exciting venture. Your sponsorship will support the costs of running the festival as well as inclusivity initiatives designed to ensure that the demographics of our event is truly diverse. In addition, we hope that you not only join us as our sponsors, but as our partners in building a vibrant and diverse community of filmmakers, influencers, adventurers, conservationists, and allies that truly reflects all of us.

“I think that being surrounded by [a group of BIPOC+ filmmakers] allowed me to have a more authentic way of expressing myself to the audience. I wasn't confined by the sense that I had to prove any stereotype, or match any image of blackness or brownness or diversity that other people have established as true...really hope that we can continue to do this in the future, because I believe that the more we can do this - the more that we can diversify the industry, the more that we can speak authentically to other people who aren't in this industry, but who could be in this industry - I think that is what we're all looking for. That diversity, that tide that rises all ships.”
Mallory Duncan, MOCFF 2023 filmmaker, and professional skier of color
“Mountains of Color Film Festival was such a supportive, uplifting, and incredible experience! Spending time in Jackson, WY with other creatives of color opened up doors for all of us, and It's not often that I enter a space where I feel like I'm truly seen, and that there's intentional space carved out for me as a queer and non-binary filmmaker of color. Mountains of Color created that space and more. There currently isn't any other film festival that centers filmmakers and creators of color in the outdoor documentary space. Especially now, these stories are so crucial to share - to inspire collective action towards a more equitable and just future in the outdoors”
Cheshire Li, panelist and filmmaker of color
“The Mountains of Color film festival was well-attended and provided an important platform for BIPOC voices in an industry where many members of the community are under or misrepresented. The panel following the films featuring producers and directors provided an opportunity to dive deeper into their experiences in outdoor recreation and hear new perspectives about the progress of creating a more inclusive outdoors.
The Mountains of Color provided important visibility for Coombs Outdoors, created a platform for new and diverse stories, and created a life-changing opportunity for a member of our Latnix youth to work in the field of conservation.”
